Toolkit to be launched to support more inclusive recruitment in the screen industries

27/06/23

On July 6, an inclusive recruitment toolkit produced by the Bridge Group and commissioned by Screen Industries Growth Network (SIGN) will be launched during an online workshop.

The new inclusive recruitment toolkit offers organisations working in the screen industries a step-by-step guide to improving diversity.

Working in the screen industries is not yet fully accessible to everyone and there exist inequalities in relation to gender identity, ethnic background, socio-economic background and geography. Recruitment needs to change so the industry can accurately reflect and represent the wider population.

The toolkit presents the latest evidence gained from a series of interviews with sector professionals which have been undertaken by the Bridge Group, identifying factors that contribute to inequalities in the industry. It goes on to propose a series of recommendations and solutions to increase diversity and inclusion, with examples of good practice and step-by-step advice appropriate for smaller or larger organisations. Action points relating to recruitment, progression, outreach, culture, data collection and geography, are provided.

The toolkit will be launched on Thursday 6 July, 1.00pm – 2.00pm. During the one-hour session, Bridge Group staff will outline key research findings, representatives of organisations in the sector will present case studies and SIGN will discuss implementation practices. There will then be the opportunity for attendees to ask their questions of the panel. A follow-up workshop for detailed discussion of how to implement the recommendations will be held on 20 July.
