Collecting socio-economic background data: Practical guidance for employers

Collecting socio-economic background data: Practical guidance for employers

11 July 2024, 12 midday-12.45pm - online event

Socio-economic background (SEB) can be overlooked in employers’ discussions about equity and inclusion – but we know it is a vital aspect of building an inclusive and effective working culture. For organisations that want to build SEB diversity and inclusion in their workforce, knowing how, and where, to start can be daunting, and collecting SEB data is critical to driving success.

Despite recognising the importance of collecting SEB data, too few firms are doing it. Yet, without SEB data, how can an employer know what interventions are needed, which activities should be prioritised, and which are having an impact?

Practical guidance is available

The Bridge Group is offering a series of free, on-line webinars, offering practical guidance to organisations that are new to collecting SEB data.

In the first of the series, we looked at the best way of approaching data collection. Subsequent webinars will address reporting, evaluation, and translating findings into tangible actions.

Please watch the recording (below) for a short and practical session that looks at why organisations should collect SEB data, and how they can get started.

We answer the following questions:

  • What is the legal status of SEB data?

  • Why should we collect SEB data from employees?

  • What specific data should we collect, and what would it show us?

  • How should we collect SEB data?

  • How can we improve the response rates from our staff?

  • How should we analyse the data?

  • How should we store and handle SEB data?

  • What next? (brief introduction to our next webinar which will look at using SEB data to make decisions and create evidence-informed action plans)
