Time to act: highlighting the Bridge Group’s practical toolkits in National Inclusion Week 2022

Ahead of Inclusive Employers’ National Inclusion Week 2022, we are highlighting our toolkits, which support employers with diversity and inclusion.

The theme for the week this year is Time to Act, The Power of Now. Our research is focused on doing just that: encouraging concrete habits and actions based on robust evidence to support employers in fostering diversity and inclusivity.

Now is a crucial time to act: the ongoing impact of the Covid-19 pandemic and the cost of living crisis threaten to exacerbate inequalities . It is vitally important that employers respond effectively to these crises, while also ensuring lasting impact, by embedding inclusive practices.

This is why we are highlighting the practical toolkits for employers we created in collaboration with Jerwood Arts and the Social Mobility Commission.

Socio-economic diversity and inclusion in the arts: a toolkit for employers

The Bridge Group collaborated with Jerwood Arts to produce a landmark guide for tackling the arts sector’s ‘class crisis’. It outlines practical steps for employers to change their organisational cultures to attract and retain a more socio-economically diverse workforce. Ten years of Bridge Group research with employers to achieve socio-economic diversity, combined with ten years of practical experience from the Weston Jerwood Creative Bursaries programme, has led to a robust and authoritative toolkit which will drive reform.

Socio-economic diversity and inclusion employers toolkit: cross-industry edition

The Employers’ Toolkit was produced in collaboration with the Social Mobility Commission and industry leaders to promote socio-economic diversity and inclusion. It provides practical recommendations to ensure that talented individuals from lower socio-economic backgrounds are not overlooked.

The toolkit uses the evidence base to offer practical ways in which all employers can be more equal, access new talent, and develop more inclusive workplaces. It should become a guide for all leading employers who care about these matters.
