Socio-economic diversity and progression to partner in the law.
Socio-economic diversity and progression to partner in the law
25 September 2020, 9 - 10am online report launch and discussion
In collaboration with a group of leading law firms, the Bridge Group has undertaken research to understand the way in which socio-economic background influences progression to partner in the law sector. This is a companion piece to our previous research on early career progression.
Our research shows that the diversity issues for the sector are not just a feature of the early career pipeline. Rather, inequalities in access and early career progression are replicated and reinforced as professionals take the uncertain journey to partner. We found that individuals from lower socio-economic backgrounds take a year and half longer to reach partner, on average, than their peers from higher social groups.
