Online outreach: lessons learned, three years on.

Online outreach: lessons learned, three years on

27 March 2023, 12pm-1pm - online event

Three years on from the start of lockdown on 23 March 2020, a significant proportion of outreach continues to be delivered online – by universities, charities and employers. A number of outreach providers are now reviewing the mode of delivery.

This webinar will help you to weigh up the factors involved. The event focuses on outreach targeting sixth-form students from less advantaged and/or low socio-economic backgrounds and aiming to support their progression to university and graduate-level jobs.

The webinar draws on the Bridge Group’s extensive research and evaluation on this topic over the last three years. We examine the benefits of online outreach as well as the drawbacks. What do outreach providers need to consider, if they are to provide high-quality online outreach that engages the intended audience? How will you know whether you have succeeded?

From the Bridge Group, Dr Penelope Griffin, Director of Higher Education and Impact, and Senior Researcher Dr Jack Layton shared our latest evidence and recommendations; and leading practitioners shared their perspectives:

  • Jonathan Tyndall, Head of Programmes: University Access and Digital at The Sutton Trust

  • Hollie Crompton, Social Mobility Lead at PwC.

After the event, we produced a summary of key points covered, available here
